Jesse Anderson
Varsity Head Coach

Jesse Anderson is entering his second full year as Head Baseball Coach at University High School, and he continues to bring energy, vision, and a genuine love for the game to our program. With a deep background as both a player and a coach, Jesse has built his baseball knowledge across high school and collegiate competition, along with years of experience coaching travel ball and five seasons in the high school ranks. His journey has shaped a coach who understands how to develop athletes and how to build a healthy, competitive culture.

Jesse’s philosophy goes far beyond the X’s and O’s. He pushes players to grow not only as teammates, but as young men who carry values like resilience, discipline, and integrity well beyond the diamond. He believes in creating an environment where communication is open, respect is expected, and every player knows they matter.

As he steps into year two, Jesse is focused on elevating every aspect of the Trojan Baseball program. He’s committed to helping each athlete reach their potential, strengthening relationships, and building a team identity rooted in effort, accountability, and pride. With Jesse leading the way, Trojan Baseball is poised for continued growth and success, one season at a time.

Varsity Assistant Coach

Matthew brings a strong blend of playing experience, leadership, and competitive fire to the Trojan Baseball program as he steps into his role as Varsity Assistant Coach. A 2017 graduate of Troy High School, he was a standout three-year varsity athlete in both football and baseball before continuing his career at the Oregon Institute of Technology. During his time at OIT, he played a key role in helping the Owls earn multiple winning seasons and a conference championship in 2023.

Matthew is currently an independent professional baseball player, most recently competing for the Salem Senators of the Mavericks League in 2024. His versatility on the field; with experience at first base, third base, and all over the outfield, gives him a well-rounded perspective he’s excited to pass on to our athletes.

With a passion for teaching the game the right way, Matthew is focused on structured development, a team-centered mentality, and building daily habits that translate into success. He’s looking forward to helping elevate Trojan Baseball and strengthening a culture rooted in discipline, hard work, and respect for the game.

Brian "Cas" Castelli
Junior Varsity Head Coach

Coach Brian “Cas” Castelli brings a lifetime of coaching experience and a deep love for the game to University High School. With sixteen years of high school baseball coaching across all three levels and more than forty years of total high school coaching experience, Cas is stepping into this new chapter with genuine excitement. He’s eager to invest in a new group of student-athletes and help them grow as players and young men.

Cas has spent three decades teaching in the Anaheim Union High School District, and along the way he has coached cross country, track, and even had brief stints with football, basketball, and soccer. Baseball has always been his true passion, and his dedication to the sport shows in everything he does. He also devoted years to coaching all four of his sons through their youth baseball journeys. One went on to play at MSU Billings, and another is currently competing at Cal Baptist. Cas and his wife of more than thirty years also have two daughters who round out their busy, sports-loving family.

One of the things that sets Cas apart is his appreciation for the mental side of baseball. He is already working with our players on strategies to handle both the highs and lows that come with competing. His goal is to help athletes build integrity, pride, and a genuine commitment to the game, knowing that the lessons learned on the field carry over into everyday life.

Cas considers it an honor and a privilege to coach your sons, and the Trojan community is fortunate to have him guiding the next generation of ballplayers.
